Nori Ohara was born in Hokuriku, in north-central Japan, in 1972.
A winner of photography prizes by Epson Corporation in 2008 (Epson Photo Grand Prix, Tokyo, Japan), the Center for Fine Art Photography in 2006 (Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art, Colorado, USA), the IPA in 2003 and the Japan/Korea Nature Photography Association in 2001, Ohara is attaining international recognition for the range and sensitivity of his pictures in general, and for his series of rural landscapes in particular. His expertise in both commercial and Fine Arts photography is due to the experience he has gained while working with major studios in Tokyo and Osaka (in-studio and on-site, in Japan and Saipan), and from the tutelage he has received from the California-based commercial photographer, Tony Aquilano.
Ohara's work has been displayed in galleries and museums across Japan. In March 2009, his grand-prize winning photos of Ataka Coast were displayed at Epson Corporation's Tokyo Gallery, and in the spring of 2008 his photo series of the southern Japanese island of Kyushu received critical acclaim at the Twenty-first Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, Japan.
